It’s that time of the year to look back and choose some favorites. Here’s a tidy 2 dozen of my personal sentimental favorites. All four seasons of my ordinary hikes are represented. Most were taken close to home, demonstrating that the wonders of creation can always be found near your own backyard.

Hiking with my grandson, I took a picture to show in the LCD screen that the log in the pond was not an Alligator. In that shot I notice that the clear blue sky, harsh light and stiff breeze combined to make a remarkable abstract on the pond surface. So what you see here is out of the camera, sharpened in Lr. I did take the liberty of flipping the photo vertically so that we are viewing it right side up.
Last Friday temperatures were setting records in the low 70’s. The next morning snow arrived, so I made one last warm weather hike before overdue cold temps settled in for the season. This little chippy thought the same thing and made good use of its last day out. I’m sure it’s not seen daylight since.
